Web Server a computer, includes software package that offer a precise type of service to client software running on other computers, and is responsible for accepting the HTTP requests from clients, which are known as Web browsers. Web Servers consist of various sizes depending on the amount of data they must handle and the probable number of daily requests for information from Internet users around the world.

Some of the common features of the Web Server are:

  • HTTP: The HTTP response usually consists of an HTML document, but can also be a raw text file, an image, or some other type of document.
  • Logging: Web servers have the ability of logging some complete information, about client requests and server responses, to log files etc.
  • Virtual Host to serve many web sites using one IP address.
  • Large file support and are able to serve files whose size is greater than 2 GB on 32 bit OS.
  • Bandwidth throttling is used to limit the speed of responses in order to not soak the network and try to serve more clients.
