Web colors refer to those colors which are used to design the web pages and the process for describing and identifying those colors. Colors may be precise as an RGB triplet in hexadecimal format, or they may also be specified according to their common English names in some cases.

Many people view web pages on monitor which may not be standardized to attain best color reproduction. Visitors to a site like this are more likely to have high specification PCs and the latest web browsers. In the field of Web Design, colors are something that you have to work with every day. The first versions of Mosaic and Netscape Navigator used the X11 color and the names of the colors are selected by the color list, as X Window System applications.

There are three main color systems that are often used in web pages. They are:

• RGB is a preservative color system where colors are formed by adding light to a dark canvas. Hence, it is used by those systems that have the capability to add light such as LCD, CRT and RGB projectors.
• CMYK considered as a subtractive color system where colors are created from energy that is not absorbed from white light by materials such as ink or paint.
• HSB is a system based on three ways to vary color etc.
