Graphic Design is an art of combining text and graphics and helps to communicate an effective message in the form of design, graphics, brochures, newsletters, posters, signs, and any other type of visual communication. It uses text or images to communicate the information.

Graphic design frequently refers to both the process i.e. designing, by which the communication is created, and the products i.e. designs such as creative solutions, descriptions and multimedia compositions. The term 'graphic designer' was first developed in the 20th century. The story of graphic design spans the history of humankind of Lascaux to the dazzling neons of Ginza.

Graphic design is applied in communication design and fine art. Common graphic design software applications include Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Fireworks and Macromedia Flash.
