ColdFusion was launched by Allaire Corporation in 1995, and was the first Web Application Server available for Windows NT- based Web Servers. ColdFusion is accessible for Windows NT, Solaris, HPUX and Linux. First version is ColdFusion 4.5 the ColdFusion 4.5.1 then introduced ColdFusion 5 and now Macromedia introduces ColdFusion MX6.1. The ColdFusion is a rapid application development system that is used to create interactive Web sites and carry out the server-side processing. The main characteristic of ColdFusion is that it relates to scripting language, ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), which compares to JSP, C#, or PHP and resembles HTML in syntax. ColdFusion frequently used for data-driven web sites or intranets.
