ASP.NET is a part of the .NET Framework and a unified web development model that includes the services to build the Web applications with a minimum of coding. In order to code the ASP.NET application, we have to access the .NET Framework. Coding to the application can be done in any language compatible with the common language runtime (CLR), including Microsoft Visual Basic, C#, JScript .NET, and J#.

ASP.NET is a completely new paradigm for server-side ASP scripting. ASP.NET marketed by Microsoft and is a set of web application that is developed by many technologies. It takes its name from Microsoft's old web development technology, ASP. ASP.NET supports the programmer to develop applications using an event-driven GUI paradigm, instead of web-scripting surroundings like ASP and PHP.

ASP.NET includes:

• Debugging support.
• A page that controls framework.
• The ASP.NET compiler.
• An extensible designer environment.
• An XML Web services framework.
• Security infrastructure and
• State-management facilities.
