Though telephone was invented in 1800’s its communication has not been changed considerably. But the new technologies like internet, digital circuit, DTMF and caller ID have made a drastic change on this invention but basic function is still the same. But later service provides made a number of changes to improve on the kinds and types of services offered to subscribers, including toll-free numbers, call-return, call forwarding, etc. In 1990’s number of researchers both in educational and corporate institutions took a serious interest in carrying voice and video over IP network especially corporate, intranet and internet. This made a drastic change in technology and today is popularly known as VoIP. Voice over IP technology transmits voice calls from analog to digital over digital data networks. The idea of VoIP is not new as researchers were appointed several decades back and demonstrations of the concept given at various times over the years. VoIP was popularized with the "information super highway" by former Vice President Al Gore in the 1990.this technology led to interconnect every home and every business with a packet-switched data network.
