E-commerce first came from the development of the Electronic Data Interchange.EDI is a set of standards developed in 1960 used to exchange business information and do electronic transactions. At the beginning there were large number of EDI formats which business applied but still could not interact with each other. In the year 1995 two biggest names in e-commerce were launched Amazon.com and eBay.com.there are several objectives in history of e-commerce but still e-commerce has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry. In 1984 the ASC X 12 standards became stable and reliable in transferring large amounts of transactions. The second major step occurred in 1992 when the Mosaic web-browser was made available. In 1994, Netscape arrived, providing users a simple browser to surf the Internet and a safe online transaction technology called Secure Sockets Layer. Today the largest e-commerce is b2b which is meant to sell their goods
to other business. The other e-commerce models include consumer-to-consumer
where consumers sell to each other. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) is another form
of e-commerce that allows users to share resources and files directly. |
