Tablet PC

A tablet PC is a further extension of the most popular computer system that is the laptop. The tablet PC is based on the enhanced version of the operating system Windows XP. The operating system is a popular one and has many features. The tablet PC was also launched by the Microsoft Corporation whose operating system is Windows XP.

The tablet PC can be used to write over it. The external keyboard can be attached to it. The tablet was an input device. That device functioned in the following way: anything you write over it by a special pen then it will reflect the same on the screen.

The tablet PC was designed on the lines of the tablet. The tablet had a special pen that when used produced some sort of signals and hence the input was provided to the computer. The name given to this type of technology is “Pen Computing”.

This Microsoft Corporation’s invention Tablet PC enhances the technology and provides more attractive features. This feature results in better handwriting recognition. Apart from these the voice recognition and more over wireless capability are also available. The manufacturers include the Compaq, NEC, Toshiba, Panasonic, Gateway, Fujitsu, Sharp etc.

This provides the features that are all included in the laptop computer. The most important ones include the wireless connectivity, and the mobility and the handiness and obviously the portability.

The size of the screen is about the 10” to 21” inches and the hard disk capacity is about 20 to 40 GB. There are two designs available convertible and the slate:

Slate Model:

In the slate model the design has no attached keyboard. But a detachable keyboard or an external keyboard can be plugged.

Convertible Model:

In the convertible model the design is like a laptop but the only difference is that it can be opened with a twist. The panel can be twisted and the monitor around can be flatten to make it a tablet PC.

This is quite expensive as compared to the normal laptops but in the future many enhancements and cheap prices may be expected.
