Plotters

Plotter is an output device used to produce graphical output and are employed for plotting graphs, charts and other design on paper. There are two types of plotters.

1. Flat bed plotters

2. Drum plotter

In a Flat bed plotter, the paper is fixed on a flat rectangular surface. Here paper does not moves across the paper and plots the corresponding graphical information. The pen holding mechanism is designed to hold more than one pen. Different coloured pens are used. When the command is issued to the plotter, the electronic circuitary activities the pen holding mechanism and a specific pen is selected from the pen holder and plots accordingly.

In Drum plotter, the paper on which graphs have to be plotted is placed over a drum which rotates back and forth and pen-holding mechanism, which moves only in horizontal direction, writes on the paper.
