Computer Networking

Whenever there are more than one system there may exist the need to connect them for the purpose of communication, data transfer, and many other purposes. Hence when two or more systems are connected together then it is called as the network.

A Network can be defined as the communication system that supports many users and there systems. The need for networking is importantly among the following: to gain access to the remote programs, to gain access to the databases or the basic concept of communication.

There are many advantages of using the Networks; some of them are listed below: The major advantage is that of increase in business systems. This is also refers to the communication and the data transfer between two systems. Modern organizations are located in many divert parts; hence there is the need for communication between them.

The physical distance may involve problems when the need arises for the data exchange or communication, a network at this time. The other advantage includes the sharing of the resources. Many machines may require some devices that are common to all other machines. Hence this reduces the load for assigning different devices for each of the systems. A common device can be shared between many systems.

Like for example consider the case with a printer connected over to a network. The printer is sufficient for that group of systems since it is shared between all of them. The printer has some scheduling program that processes the requests accordingly. There is also the facility to back up. It may be possible that the data gets corrupted or relating problems regarding the data processing. Then the backup can be easily accessed in case of a network support.

The goals of networking could be summarized as resource sharing, high reliability, monetary savings, the rapid exchange of information and data communication.

There are many types of networks available. For example they may include the following LAN, MAN, WAN, Internet etc. The disadvantage if any of the network is that of security. Hacking is a potential threat for the networks these days. The threat for network security is increasing alarming and many of the users have already been affected with this.
