Motherboard ConfigurationFind here the motherboard configuration procedure. As it is understood that motherboard is a fragile part of computer but at the same time a very important component as well. So before configuring the motherboard better to ground yourself and make sure that the static electric charge is nil. The procedure below will describe how to configure the motherboard. The configuration mainly involves the setting up of jumpers. Some of the motherboards available today are called as the jumper less motherboard since they are so made that the entire configuration settings are possible from BIOS setup itself. This is more convenient from the user’s perspective since a layman would assume the jumper settings as a complex process. Now coming down to the actual procedure; the first step will involve getting a good manual that is suitable for the motherboard. Usually this is provided by the manufacturer itself. Now Set the Processor Voltage Jumpers. This is the next of the second step in the motherboard configuration. There are two voltage specifications one is for the internal voltage of the processor and the other one for the I/O devices. The next step will involve the setting up of the processor speed jumpers. The processor speed is determined by the system bus speed and the multiplier. Now the next step is to set secondary cache size and the type jumper. The cache size and its type jumper should be setup appropriately. The flash BIOS jumper should be set so that it uploads the default value. And also the CMOS jumper should be ensured that it is set to default since some jumper can clear the contents of the CMOS. Ensure that in the next step you check the battery source jumpers. This is done because the battery jumper settings should be default. Check disable jumpers should be configured in the next step. These disable jumpers let you to disable the hardware controllers like the floppy drive or the ports etc. This jumper is also used for the serial or parallel ports. The other jumper that may be included in the motherboard is the Set Memory Size jumpers. After all these settings and the jumpers are done with then double check all the jumper settings and the configuration. This ensures that everything has been fairly carried out. |
