Basic Laptop Peripherals

The parts or the components of the laptop are almost similar to those of a desktop computer. The only difference is that they are small and compact and they appear and have the tendency to be portable. The parts include a processor that can support mobility, an upgradable motherboard, RAM, Hard Drive and the Drives like the Floppy Drive, CD / DVD Drives etc. it also has the Zip Drives and the connectors for various ports including the printer and the scanner.

The external devices like the FAX machine and the modem etc can also be connected. The laptop offers in itself the portability and the mobile computing and the major property of compactness and the ease to use it.

The laptop parts also include the screen or the monitor. It is preferable to call this output device as the screen. The size is usually depends along side the size of the laptop. The most important thing that has to be noticed while purchasing a laptop is the weight of the laptop. Since it needs to be portable the weight should be as less as possible. The market offers huge potential to light weight laptops.

The next most important part of the laptop is the battery. The battery usually provides a back up for about 20 to 30 minutes in an economic laptop. The high cost laptops offer a huge back up of about 1 hour to about 1 ½ hours. The battery is rechargeable. The laptop can be always on provided it is connected to the rechargeable adapter. The battery or any other part of the laptop can be changed if it continues to persist with one problem or the other.

The screen is usually True Flat type and is thin screen as compared to the desktop monitors. The screen utilizes the technology of the plasma crystal display. This type of screens uses less power as compared to the regular Cathode Ray Tube CRT monitors.

The hard disk and the RAM are the parts that can be up graded as and when required by the user. These parts are usually upgraded to meet the technology advancement or the requirements. The laptops can also connect to the webcams or the digital cameras. The laptop has the property to connect in a network using a Bluetooth connection. This means that a user can enter any networks without making any physical connections to connect that network.

The keyboard, mouse and the sound devices are inbuilt within a laptop. The mouse may be in the form of a trackpad or the trackpoint. An external mouse can also be connected to the laptop. The keyboard is standard one that is used in the laptop. But the features like multimedia buttons may also be added to it.
