Operating System and Peripherals of Laptop

The laptops come along with the latest of the operating systems that are available. The most popular being the Microsoft Corporations Windows XP. The Apple laptops usually carry the operating system of its own company that is the Mac OS. Also the manufacturers upload the desired operating system as demanded by the customer at the time of purchase.

The Linux operating system is also bundled along with the laptops. The advantage using Linux operating system is that it is very much stable and much more secure. The Linux operating system is also free of cost. Instead the operating system provided by the Microsoft - Windows is a charged one.

Regarding the parts of the laptops they are usually the same that are present in a typical Desktop computer. The difference is that they are all usually and necessarily should be small and compact in size along with less weight. The parts include those like the processor, motherboard, RAM, hard drive, and CD ROM / RW, DVD ROM / RW and the floppy drive, the Zip Drive, USB Connectors, etc.

The mouse, keyboard and the speakers are all inbuilt in a laptop. Usually the laptop does have a touchpad. In place of a mouse this is used. The user needs to just move his finger over that track pad. Apart from this the trackpoint is also much widely and popularly used. This is a round rubber protruding dot that is in the middle of the keyboard. It needs to be pushed with the finger to move the cursor. The devices described above use the left or the right buttons corresponding to those as the left and the right buttons.

Apart from all these devices the laptop also has a port to which any normal external mouse can be connected. The laptop has the external port in all forms like the USB, Serial and also the PS/2. The Modem and the LAN card are of importance here since these are the parts for the very purpose of providing connectivity to the world over the internet.

The mobility in case of the laptop is much important as it will affect the very purpose of which the laptop is made and is portable. The laptops can also be connected to the LAN in a network and also it can be used to connect to a printer. The Bluetooth connectivity can provide the laptop to enter any network.

The Laptop has the processor which is much important part in any computer. The processors are usually designed to support the feature of mobility. The Intel Celeron M, Intel’s Centrino provide great support to the mobility and the portability of the laptop.
