Heat Sink

The processor produces a considerable amount of heat. Just a small usage will cause the processor to generate a huge amount of heat and get hot. The processor if not cooled off immediately may result in damage to it causing tremendous loss and much expense.

Hence a device called as the heat sink is used to cool off the processor. This device is much similar to the engine of a motor bike. There are different types of heat sinks available and that too in many shapes and sizes. There is a fan associated with it. This fan blows of the heat from the processor.

The heat sink is usually made of the material that can absorb heat like that of aluminum. There are a lot of cuts and clips over it. The heat sink absorbs the heat and the fan blows away the heat. The fan is connected to the mother board which provides the necessary amount of electricity for it.

Apart from aluminum it can also be made from the copper metal or that of silver. It comes along with the processor. And is a compulsion that is to be used.
