Hardware and InnardsHardware and Innards means that the hardware and the components that all are used in the computer. They include the following: Processor:The central processing unit controls all the operations of the computer. It has the function to fetch the binary-coded instructions from the memory, decode and identify them and carries out the necessary actions associated with it. The processor may be a 32 bit processor or the new release includes the 64 bit processor. Motherboard:It is the central circuit over which the processor is fixed. The mother board contains all the slots and sockets over which all the other devices needs to be connected to. The mother board should be compatible with the RAM and the processor. RAM:This is the primary memory which is a must for any system. The primary memory that is RAM could be SD or DDR or some other type. This is volatile memory that means when a power failure; occurs the contents are erased. Hard Drive:The Drive is the secondary memory and is usually a permanent memory in the sense that it is the non volatile memory. The contents remain even if there is a power failure. The hard disk has memory in terms of giga bytes at least. The access speed also matters in the secondary memory. Floppy drive:The floppy being the oldest form of storage device is still used to back up data. The floppy drive is used as a default A: in the computer. Currently the floppy drive that is used is 3.5” floppy drive. CD ROM/RW:The CD is new form of backing up data instead of the floppy disk. The CD’s offer a permanent storage and once the data is burnt over it can’t be erased. But in contrast with the floppies the CD offer huge disk space. DVD ROM/RW:The DVD is an alternative for the CD. The DVD is also an optical storage medium that offer huge storage capacity. Usually the memory capacity is in Giga bytes. The DVD burner is used for the backing up of data on the drive. This is the case that is used as the cover for the parts of the computer. It may take a lot of forms like the tower or the horizontal cabinet, from as large case to a small and a very compact one. Monitor:The monitor may be even the analog or the digital one. It is the device that offers the output over a screen. There is a huge demand for monitors that are true flat. The TFT monitors add up to the attractiveness and the consume much lesser space and electricity. Keyboard:The keyboard is a detachable device. This is the most basic input device that is much similar to a typewriter. The keyboard now comes with the multimedia buttons like the increase and decrease of volume. One button touch email etc. Mouse:This is the device that is used when there is the graphical user interface interaction in the computer. The operating system like the windows has the graphical user interface and the device like mouse is very much useful in this case. The mouse may be serial, USB, PS2 in connectivity. The mouse is optical in nature these days. Speakers:The speakers may range from a few watts of power to mega watts in power. The come along with a sub woofer which enhances the sound. The speakers add up as a multimedia device and enhance the performance of the system. Zip drive:Similar to that of the floppy drive zip drive has more memory than the usual floppy drive. Web Cam:Adds to glamour of the computer and helps in the better communication
