First of all you need to understand your requirements that need to be satisfied before you go to purchase a new computer for yourself. The requirements may range from the purpose for which the computer is necessary that depends upon the person who is concerned of buying it.

The requirement may be for the education if the person is a student or it may for the purpose of professional usage, or for the entertainment or gaming itself. The guide would suggest the need for identifying the exact purpose of the purchase. But a general guide for the purpose would be suggested here.

Usually that is required for the computer to be purchased is that it should provide and support at least the basic necessity of the person involved. For a layman user it should support the simple functionalities of providing internet and email, some form of entertainment like movies, songs, etc. It may also support the games and all.

For a person who owns a business it should support some common applications in accounting and keeping record of the data base. And for a designer it should support the high end graphics that if necessary in his profession. Like a architect would require the three dimensional software for designing the interiors etc.

Apart from the hardware involved there also is the need to understand the software that is to be installed in the computer and is a part of the computer. The software like that of media editing may be required for the person involved in photography, software for designing, and compilers for the programmer. The most basic need in the software is that of the operating system. This is the software that needs to be purchased what ever may be the hardware configuration, like Microsoft Windows. Other operating system like the Linux comes free of cost.

The computer can be classified as given below:

Standard or the basic computers:

This is the computer that involves the hardware or the software that would meet the basic needs of the user.

Mid Range Computers:

This type of computer may be like that it is in the middle of both the basic and the high end super computer. It should be able to perform the basic requirement and also some of the other things that are not necessary for the user but can be still performed by the computer.

High-End Computer:

The computer here is the one that is used for the high-end computing purpose. This involves the high – end graphical games as well as the software that involves the high end computing.
