Distributed Data ProcessingDistributed data processing system contains a network of central computer and local micro or mini computers. Here both centralized and decentralized data processing take place. As part of decentralized processing, local computer processes the incoming data and produces the results if the data manipulations and computations are within its reach. Sometimes centralized data processing are demanded when local computers call the central computer and access from its central data fills or it may request any central service for the local processing. data processing is distributed among a wide range local computers and a central computer where in the necessary data and services of the central computer may be shared by local ones in order to provide high speed data processing. Example of distributing data processing include: A business organization that has established a number of branches in different cities for the sales of their exclusive products. But head office or main branch is centered in one city say Delhi. If the computers are interconnected in all of its branches and head office to provide distributed data processing then any clarification may be sought, in one of the local branches regarding their products. Assume that a particular product which has a very high demand in the market may not available or shortage of stock in one of the local branch. Now that local branch can directly access the head office or main branch for the enquiry of availability of that product in another local branch or main branch and request/order may be placed for the supply of same product. |
