Desktop Computer

The Desktop Computer is the computer that is a full size Computer with Computer case, keyboard, mouse, and monitor; in other sense it is a complete system.

The word Desktop Computer is used because here the Computer is placed over the desk and the case may be in the horizontal or the vertical position. The Desktop Computer is usually referred as a personal computer or a PC. It is a medium one in performance and speed and compared to the ultra high performance Super Computers.

The Desktop Computers are available in many brands like that of Dell, HP, Compaq, Sony and many other brands like Acer, IBM, and Apple etc. Most of the software companies usually use the Desktop Computers in their office.

The use of laptops may also be considered as the option for Desktop Computers. Earlier the desktop used to be quite expensive and hence the system being followed included the use of mainframes as a server and many terminals connected to it. These terminals accessed the resources of that main server to perform there operations.

But as the technology advanced the Desktop Computers are now available in cheap prices along with the configuration that is advanced. Hence now the desktop is being considered to make the network as a Distributed Network which means that more PC’s are connected together and the need for one mainframe is eliminated.

Although this is the concept that has some advantages as compared to the other one; it may also have some of its own disadvantages.
