Double Data Rate RAM

This is the term that is commonly referred for the primary memory that is the RAM. In fact this it is a type of primary memory. The DDR RAM is the most sold memory in the primary memory segment in the market. Most of the new brands like HP, Compaq, DELL, IBM, use this primary memory chip in their systems.

Even in the market of assembled computer this is a popular RAM. The technology in the DDR which stands for Double Data Rate by its name suggests that the RAM is quite fast as compared to the other types.

The other types of the RAM may include the SD RAM, the NV Ram that is the non-volatile RAM etc. The SD RAM has comparatively lower speed as that compared to DDR RAM. The speed and the performance of the system increase many a times and considerably.

The speed of the RAM increases specifies that double the amount of data can be transferred in per clock cycle.
