Types of Memories

Storage requirements is only at the time of program execution. Memories may hold, data and programs whether on temporary basis or permanent basis. Depending upon the cost of manufacturing of memories. Data storage in a large quantity may be expensive or may not be expensive in some other types of computer memories. In some applications, where massive data processing takes place at regular intervals, but may be required to store large amount of data for future use by a computer.

The two types of memories used in a computer system. They are :

1) Primary memory or main memory
2) Secondary memory or Auxiliary memory.

Both types of memory are significant in their operations are found their use in almost all application of computer. But primary memory or main memory is essential for program execution and constitute the memory unit of the computer.
